Making Science Accessible to Everyone

Science Over Hype: Making Sense of Health Trends

Hello and welcome to your science safe haven!

If you’ve ever felt buried under health fads, wellness trends, or unsolicited family advice (we all have that one relative…), you’re not alone. There’s always someone telling us what to eat, how to train, or which miracle hack will “change everything.” Not here.

Here’s where we hit pause.

We’ll pick apart one of the latest trends, sift through the science, and figure out what’s hype and what actually holds up. Do we really need two pounds of protein per kilo of body weight? Is Zone 2 training worth all the buzz?

If you’ve ever asked questions like these, you’re in the right place. The goal isn't for me to tell you what to think, but to give you the information to decide for yourself! Together, we’ll simplify the complex, separate fact from fad, and come away with clarity (and maybe a laugh or two).

Let's dig into the Facts behind the Fads

How do you write the articles?

I focus on asking myself three fundamental questions 1)What is it? 2) How does it work? 3) How can it affect me? Then I conduct what we scientists like to call a literature review. I look into research and other writing that's been done on the topic and read anywhere between 15-30 sources about it before answering those three questions. I try my best to explain and summarize the most important pieces of the information I come across.

What's your background?

I'm a neuroscientist (brain researcher) with a passion for science communication and a belief that we should be given information in a way that lets us make our own decisions. I studied the brain and metabolism for eight years and now spend my time communicating all types of science like brain research, cancer research, and AI research.
